Canine Partners in Scotland

We’re setting up Community Hubs to bring life-changing partnerships closer – and you can join us.

How we work in Scotland

We know the life-changing difference a canine partnership can make. But working across the UK, it can be a challenge to reach everyone from our National Training Centre in Leicestershire.

Our Community Hubs are bringing that expertise, love and care closer to home. With your support, we can raise and train assistance dogs in local communities – and raise the funds needed to power partnerships locally. This will make it easier for the disabled people we work with in Scotland to access the right support.

‘He’s always there for me’ – meet one of our Scottish partnerships

James was matched with his canine partner, Spud, after a chronic condition affected his mobility and left him frustrated at the prospect of losing independence.

‘Spud has provided structure to my day – he allows me to do things I previously found difficult and he’s always there for me, willing to help. Our partnership has broadened my horizons and I can take more responsibility for my life. Spud gives me the confidence to go out on my own… I’ve made so many friendships.

‘Canine Partners has become a large part of my life. They’ve given me so much and I wanted to give something back. That’s why I’ve become involved in fundraising and raising awareness.’

Volunteer opportunities

There’s lots of ways to get involved as a Canine Partners volunteer in Scotland. Whether you’ve got plenty of time to spare or a few hours here and there, you’ll find a warm welcome and the chance to make a real difference to the partnerships we support.

In our Community Hubs, there’s opportunities to volunteer:

  • with fostering dogs, providing a temporary loving home or longer-term care during their journey
  • in the community, helping with fundraising collections, planning events or giving talks
  • using your professional skills, such as driving, homebased admin or video and photo content creation.

Support our fundraising goals

When you donate or run a fundraising event for Canine Partners, your kindness and hard work will benefit partnerships in Scotland and across the UK. Every pound you raise supports disabled people and their canine partners to find confidence, companionship and freedom to live life their own way.
