Top tips for fundraising online
Online fundraising pages like JustGiving are quick and easy to set up. They’re the simplest way to collect sponsorship and donations, plus you can keep friends, family, and colleagues updated with photos and stories.
Our top tips to get your fundraising page up and running:
- Decide on your target – believe in yourself. Most people raise more than they expect.
- Tell your story – explaining your why, what, and how will inspire people to get behind your fundraiser.
- Add photos and updates – supporters will love seeing your progress as the fundraising total rises.
- Keep your total updated – remember to add offline donations to your page.
- Share your page – use your unique link to share your page on social media and email. The more people you tell, the more support you’ll raise.
Organise a collection, raffle or lottery
These are great ways to boost your fundraising. There are some rules you’ll need to follow that are set by local councils, the Fundraising Regulator, and the Gambling Commission. The rules are there to protect you, Canine Partners, and anyone who donates to your fundraiser, so it’s important you understand them. We can help with this – please get in touch and we can talk through everything you need to know.
What to do after your event
All your hard work’s paid off and you’re ready to pay in your donations. Please collect and pay in all money raised as soon as you can, ideally within 30 days of your event.
Let everyone know how it went, how much you raised, and thank everyone who helped and supported you. We would love to hear from you too. Tag us in your social media updates, or contact the Fundraising Team to send us your stories and photos. Thank you for choosing to support Canine Partners.
Sarah was inspired to fundraise for Canine Partners after seeing a demonstration at a dog show. Our assistance dogs struck a deep chord with her, as Sarah’s father had lost his independence while living with Multiple Sclerosis.
‘I’m always telling people about Canine Partners and have organised a summer open garden event, wine tasting, and a Christmas Carol service to raise funds. No matter your idea, big or small, the team are very receptive and will support you. Even if you’ve never fundraised before, just go for it – and have fun!’
